Nutella brownie cookies

What is not to love about these huge nutella cookies. They have the texture of a soft warm brownie and a delicious cookie butter center. I promise if you love all things chocolate they will become your new favorite cookie to bake up and they are so easy to make. Only 3 smart points each, did I mention they are big cookies? 😉

3SP blue, green & purple/2pp each
  • ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup nutella
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • ⅔ cup white flour
  • 1.5 Tbsp mini chocolate chips
  • 2 Tbsp cookie butter (or nutella) for topping
  1. Preheat oven to 325F, spray a large cookie sheet with non stick spray.
  2. With an electric mixer beat together the applesauce and sugar for 2 minutes, add the egg and continue beating, then add the Nutella while still beating.
  3. Using a spoon mix in dry ingredients and chocolate chips. Spoon cookies onto cookie sheet and in the middle of each cookie add ¼ tsp of cookie butter, you can use Nutella for middle if you don't have any cookie butter, but I find more stores are carrying it now and it will be in the same section as your peanut butter.
  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes, makes 20 cookies at 3 smart points each..

    Would chocolate PB2 work in place of the Nutella? They look yummy

    My daughter has a gluten allergy, do you know if it works as well with gluten free flour? I’m on WW and love that they’re only 3 points, but want to be able to cook for the whole family.

      Hi Jenny, I can’t give you an honest answer sorry as I have never baked with gluten free flour, all I can suggest is giving it a try 🙂

      I bake with GF and the only difference is whatever u make it’s a little drier is the only difference

    What ate you referring to when you refer to cookie butter as an ingredient?

      Trader joe’s carries a cookie butter, if your in Canada I think Presidents choice does one, it is a spread like nutella, look with your nutella’s at the grocery store you might find one

    I have to admit, when I spooned these onto the cookie sheet I was skeptical. I wasn’t convinced they were going to cook in just 8-10 mins, and wasn’t sure how they were going to turn out. Boy was I blown away! A great tasting, light cookie with that little indulgence in the middle. My daughter (7) and I love them!

      Hi Dana, I totally get what your saying because I thought the same thing when I created the recipe… wasn’t sure if they were going to be a hit or a flop and was pleasantly surprised, so glad you and your girl enjoyed them 🙂

    Just made a batch of these. I have a question….my batter was very thick, nothing like the picture. Any thoughts?

      Hi Linda, hmm, I’m not too sure, it is not suppose to be a thick batter, hard to tell with me not there sorry
