I am in love with this Chicken Alfredo Bubble Up casserole mostly because it’s packed with fantastic flavor while only being five Weight Watchers points per serving. My bubble up casseroles are filling and the perfect mix of all the favorite classic foods. Add a side salad and you have a great, easy family meal perfect for busy weeknights.
By using pre-cooked shredded chicken, like leftover rotisserie chicken, and frozen broccoli, the prep of this meal is a breeze. I love recipes that are easy to throw together, but still taste amazing, and this Chicken Alfredo bubble up is it! My whole family enjoyed it, even with the broccoli mixed in. Use this recipe to introduce veggies to your kids, and I doubt you’ll have any issues. They’ll gobble it right up. Light alfredo sauce makes it easy to keep the calories low too. If you haven’t tried the lightened up version of Alfredo sauce that is available in most stores, I highly suggest using it. It’s still creamy and cheesy – just has fewer calories than its regular counterpart.
Three reasons why you need to make this recipe!
Skip the high calorie bowl of chicken alfredo, and make this instead.
You’ll save yourself hundreds of calories by making this chicken alfredo bubble up instead of a big bowl of pasta. Most restaurant pasta dishes end up around 1000 calories, but this casserole offers a serving for just 236 calories.
You can meal prep your busy weeknight dinners.
Chicken alfredo bubble up makes fantastic leftovers so I suggest making enough for you to eat throughout the week. It’s easy to reheat and makes a tasty dinner on busy weeknights.
It’s not high in saturaded fat.
Most Alfredo sauce or chicken alfredo meals are extremely high in saturated fat because it’s made with a lot of butter and cheese. One serving of this casserole is only 3 grams of saturated fat, so you can feel good about what you’re eating.
Ingredients you need to make Chicken Alfredo Bubble Up:
- 1 (7.5 oz) package Pillsbury biscuits in the 4 value pack
- 3 cups frozen broccoli
- 10 oz cooked and cubed boneless, skinless chicken breast
- Dash of salt and pepper
- ½ cup reduced fat Alfredo pasta sauce
- ½ cup shredded light mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup shredded asiago cheese or other cheese that you prefer
How to make Chicken Alfredo Bubble Up (step by step):
- Preheat the oven to 375F and spray a 9×13 casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Cut the 10 biscuits into 6 small pieces each and layer them in the bottom of the dish. If you want, you can pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes (some ovens vary and some may find the middle does not cook through, I never have an issue but pre-baking should eliminate this from happening)
- Cook the broccoli in the microwave as directed on the package.
- In a bowl, mix the broccoli, cooked and cubed chicken, salt, pepper, alfredo sauce, and mozzarella cheese until it’s well combined.
- Spoon the mixture evenly onto the biscuit pieces and bake in the casserole in the oven for 25 minutes. Remove it from the oven and add the asiago cheese on top. Return it to the oven for 15-20 minutes.
- Let it cool for about 5 minutes then cut into 6 equal servings. Enjoy!

Different ways to change up this recipe:
- Great Value is a good brand of biscuit dough that still offers the 4 value pack of 7.5 oz packages. If you can’t find those just weigh out 7.5 oz of dough from a bigger pack.
- Feel free to substitute for a cheese of your liking, if you’re not a fan of asiago. I love the bite it gives, but parmesan is also a good choice.
Tips and Tricks for Making Chicken Alfredo Bubble Up:
- This chicken alfredo bubble up casserole keeps in the fridge (covered tightly) for up to seven days. You can also freeze it for up to three months.
- To reheat, just pop a serving back in the oven, or air fryer, for 6-8 minutes.

What is the points value per serving of the alfredo sauce, since it will be easier to remember that when shopping. Thank you.
Hi Jessica, I added a picture of the nutritional info in the post so you can work out the points for the one I used if you would like..
What is the easiest way to find out the serving size of your recipes?
Hi Kelly, most times I will weigh out portions but if it is an older recipe I might not have, I make all my bubble ups in a 9×13 dish and then I just cut into 6 equal servings.. if you really want to get accurate serving size you can weigh each one to make sure they are even but your eye can probably figure it out 🙂
Made this today! How do I enter all this into the app?
Hi, you can either do as a quick add and enter numbers or build the recipe in your recipe builder
Amazing!!!!! My husband requested it every week!
Yay!! I am so glad he enjoys it so much 🙂
Hi! Looks tasty! Have you tried using cauliflower in this recipe instead of broccoli? I haven’t yet, but I wanted to know if you have. By the way, love the app too. Hope you come out with more.
Thank you Scott 🙂 No I have not tried cauliflower, I did suggest it to someone that does not like broccoli, cauliflower can be tricky as it holds a lot of water, but I still think it would work well.. Hope you keep enjoying the recipes, and I too hope I have more Apps down the road..Have a great weekend!
Another great dish!! Thanks!!
Thanks Rosanne, glad you enjoyed!
Made this for the first time tonight and the family devoured it! So good and so easy! Thank you!!!
Tammy
Hi Tammy, so glad your family all enjoyed it 🙂
Can the chicken be cooked prior putting it in the oven?
Hi Bianca, the chicken is cooked once you mix it in, I cook my chicken in the crock pot and it shreds nicely, I usually do a batch a week up for different recipes .. does that answer your question?
This is SO good! Keep ’em coming!
I sure will! Glad you enjoy it 🙂
Hi there! I live in the Netherlands, and we don’t have canned biscuit dough (a crying shame). Do you think this recipe would work with prepared pizza dough?
HI there, I know I’m so sorry they don’t carry pillsbury over there, same with the UK.. I have suggested before that people try pizza dough, I would just try to go light on it as it is a heavier dough than the biscuits..
Hi,I have a question, does this recipe work well with fresh broccoli if I cook it ahead instead of using frozen.
Hi, it should be ok, I have only used frozen but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work 🙂
Hi there, im from new zealand and we dont have the biscuits used in your bubble up dishes.. is there anything I can substitute them with?
Thanks ?
Oops just read the comments.. will try a lil pizza dough
