Easy Cinnamon Apples (15 Simple Recipes)

Servings: 4
Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 10 minutes
Total: 20 minutes
Naturally sweet and caramelized sautéed apples.
A naturally sweet and crisp apple dessert or treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 large red apples, such as Pink Lady, but your preferred variety works
  • 3 packets of sucralose sweetener
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon of light butter
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
  • A pinch of salt
  • ½ cup of water, 120 ml

Instructions

  • Prep the Apples: Begin by washing, peeling, and coring the red apples. Slice them into even-sized, thin rounds. Ensuring uniform thickness will help with even cooking.
  • Sweeten and Spice: In a small bowl, combine the sucralose sweetener, salt and the ground cinnamon. Mix them well and set this mixture aside for later.
  • Sauté the Apples: In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the sliced apples. Sauté them for about 2-3 minutes or until they start to soften and become slightly translucent.
  • Add Sweetener and Cinnamon: Sprinkle the prepared sweetener-cinnamon mixture over the sautéed apples. Gently stir the apples to evenly coat them with the sweet and spiced mixture. Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Thicken the Sauce: In a separate small bowl, combine the cornstarch and water, ensuring there are no lumps. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the apples. Stir well to combine. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the apples are tender.
  • Butter It Up: Add the light butter to the skillet, and stir until it’s fully melted and incorporated. The butter adds richness to the sautéed apples.
  • Serve: Once the sautéed apples have reached your desired level of tenderness and are coated in the sauce, remove the skillet from the heat. Enjoy: Serve the sautéed red apples hot, with the option to add a dollop of low-fat yogurt or a sprinkle of additional cinnamon for extra flavor.
