Split pea soup is a thick and comforting, with dried split peas forming its hearty base. Accompanied by onions, potatoes, carrots, and chicken broth, the primary goal is to let the peas dissolve during cooking, creating a consistently rich soup.

In this lighter version, we replace potatoes with carrots and use a less fatty meat.

I’m really happy with how it turned out, you get all the flavor of the original without all the extra stuff you don’t want.

Tips and Tricks Section for Making Split Pea Soup:

1. Familiarize yourself with your Instant Pot’s features, utilizing functions designed for cooking legumes to achieve the ideal soup consistency. If your pressure cooker lacks the sauté function, you can sauté the vegetables in a separate skillet. However, this step is not mandatory; if you’re short on time, simply add everything to the pot and you’re good to go.

2. Expedite the cooking process by soaking green split peas for at least two hours before preparation. Rinse them thoroughly under running water before use.
