Chicken fritters are a delicious and versatile dish that can be served as an appetizer, snack, or main course. However, many traditional recipes call for deep-frying, which can add unnecessary calories and unhealthy fats to the dish. However, this version of Weight Watchers Chicken Fritters makes healthy chicken fritters that are still crispy and flavorful.

These healthy chicken fritters are a great alternative to traditional deep-fried fritters. By using a little bit of oil instead deep frying and by using light cheese instead of full fat cheese, you can reduce the amount of calories and unhealthy fats in the dish.

Plus, the addition of fresh herbs and garlic adds flavor and nutrients to the dish.

Overall, making healthy chicken fritters is easy and delicious. With a few simple substitutions and cooking techniques, you can create a healthier version of this classic dish that your family and friends will love.

Three reasons why you need to try this Healthy Chicken Fritters recipe

  • The effort is low, the reward is high.

The flavor you get out of these 2 point WW fritters is amazing compared to the amount of work it actually takes to make them. Anytime you can make a recipe that really doesn’t take that much effort, but tastes amazing, it’s worth adding to the weekly rotation.

  • It’s a fun lean protein source.

We know we need lean protein in order to be healthy. But ground turkey and chicken breast can get old fast. These chicken fritters are lean, low carb, and high in protein. It’s a much more fun way to get your protein in.

  • It’s basically healthy chicken nuggets!

Who doesn’t love chicken nuggets? They take up way too many points though. These chicken fritters will give you that chicken nugget fix you need, without using up your daily points. Even your kids will eat these!

Ingredients you need to make Weight Watchers Chicken Fritters:

  • 16 oz boneless skinless chicken breast, weighed raw
  • 1 egg
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1 ½ Tbsp parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 garlic clove, diced
  • Few tbsp of fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp dried chives
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley
  • Pinch of salt & pepper
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp cooking oil or cooking spray

How to make this cheesy chicken fritters recipe:

  1. Cut the chicken into very small pieces (the smaller the better) and place chicken pieces in a bowl. Add in the egg, flour, parmesan, mozzarella, garlic, and seasonings. Using a spoon, mix well.
  2. Heat a large frying pan over medium to low heat, and add the oil. You may also need to spray the pan with non-stick spray since you are not using much oil.
  3. Once pan is hot add in about 1/4 cup of chicken mixture per fritter. Don’t overcrowd the pan too much. Cook about 3 at a time.
  4. Cook fritters about 10 minutes each, turning a few times. Don’t have the temp too hot or they will cook too much on the outside and not enough on the inside.

Chicken Fritter variations:

  • Air Fryer Version: Pop these chicken fritters in an air fryer for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. You won’t need to use the cooking oil, which will save you some points! They’ll be 1 point per fritter instead of 2.
  • Mexican Version: Instead of basil and mozzarella, add some chopped green onion and light Mexican cheese blend. You can even throw in some diced bell peppers for more volume without extra points.
  • Buffalo Ranch: Use a ranch seasoning packet in place of all the herbs and spices. Don’t add buffalo sauce to the mixture though- it will make the fritters too soggy. Once cooked, dip the fritters in buffalo sauce for a classic buffalo ranch version.
  • You can substitute almond flour for the flour if you need a gluten free version. It will change the points, so make sure to check your WW app recipe creator.
  • This is a great recipe to hide some veggies in! Grate zucchini onto paper towels. Let sit for a few minutes so the paper towels soak up excess water from the zucchini. You will also have to squeeze out any remaining water. Add to the mixture before making into fritters. The addition of the veggies won’t change the flavor, but it will add more volume, so you can get 8-10 fritters out of the recipe instead of 6.

Tips and Tricks.

  • Chop the chicken really small. If your chicken chunks are too big, the patties won’t stick together. They won’t cook evenly either. It’s very important to make sure the chicken pieces are dime size to pea size.
  • Save time: use lean ground chicken instead of using chicken breast. The texture won’t be exactly the same, but the flavor will be just as good. And you’ll save plenty of time by not having to chop all of that chicken into small pieces.
  • Save effort: Use a food processor to chop chicken if you have one. It will save you a good bit of time and effort doing it this way. And the clean up is way easier. Just make sure to stop the food processor before the chicken gets too fine. You don’t want a paste.

  1. Do you think I could fix the mixture, mold into patties & freeze them without frying, then just fry up a couple of patties from the freezer as I want them or should they be completely cooked before freezing? Love your site. Follow your recipes all the time.

  2. I made these today and they turned out great! Not sure this size recipe would feed 6. I think it would be more like 3, maybe 4. I can’t have garlic and spices right now so I removed the garlic and chili powder and added onion powder and cumin instead. I cooked them in the air fryer too so cut the oil from 2 tsp to 1 tsp which is always nice. Plan on serving with baked sweet potatoes and salad. Cutting up the chicken into tiny pieces wasn’t that fun. I’ve made similar recipes with ground chicken and can say that I like the chunky aspect to the texture of these fritters. So in the end, it was worth taking the time to cut it up. Definitely worth making.

    1. Hi Erica, the serving size doesn’t necessarily mean it feeds that many, it is so you know the points/nutritional number per serving

  3. Hi! Just to clarify this recipe makes 6 fritters total, correct? Just wondering if I should double the recipe for meal prep! Thanks!

    1. Hi Kimmy, yes it makes 6 fritters, and 1 fritter is a serving simply for nutritional and point reference, not saying that one fritter is enough for a serving if that makes sense

  4. I made these for dinner tonight. My husband and I loved them. Only thing I did differently is I used Kirkland Premium canned chicken. OMG theynwere beyond delicious. Mthank you for this recipe. Can’t wait to find more delicious WW recipes on your site.

  5. I’m not sure if the question was asked already.. but do you think you could bake them in the oven instead of pan frying? What temp and time do you think? If so… I live in an RV and things tend to turn out better in my convection oven. Thanks for your knowledge!! Your recipes look great!

    1. Hi Laree… I think so yes, I’d cook about the same time you’d cook a chicken breast for, I usually do 350F for about 20-25 min, maybe check them around 15 min and flip over

  6. I made these last night, in an effort to save time I fried some as the recipe suggest and I baked some. Wow, they were amazing and definitely one I’ll be doing again. We actually found the baked ones had even more flavor, used some of the leftovers on a salad today without dressing.

  7. SO GOOD! I used my food processor the 2nd time I made these and what a difference in the labor involved with chicken.

  8. Hi there! Do you think corn could be added to them? They sound amazing. (ps: your garden salad looks way more appetizing than any I ever make ?)

    1. Haha.. I’m not a huge fan of salad so I kept it pretty simple 🙂 I think you could definitely add corn to these fritters
