Little did I know when I started my Instagram account over 2 years ago that I would become a part of such an amazing weight loss community. I started the account simply to hold myself accountable and now a few years later I hold so much more than that. I have met some amazing people and truly feel like it’s my family away from family.. This brings me to the lovely Star who has recently started the blog theskinnyishdish I knew when Star revealed she was going to start a blog that it would be amazing… The girl can cook!! She’s super cool, like way cooler than I’ll ever be 😉 and just the sweetest… Star is a weight watcher member like many of us and one thing I truly love and admire about her is she just keeps it real.. I am away this weekend so I asked Star if she would share one of her yummy creations on my blog..
So let’s get to why your really here… This delicious Biscuits N’ Gravy bake!! Serves 6 at 7 freestyle smart points each and makes a great breakfast… I will leave the rest in Star’s hands… thank you mama for sharing your food creativity on my blog 🙂
Hello everyone! I’d like to start off by giving my biggest thanks to Kate for taking me under her Wing, helping me with my adventure into the blogging world, and featuring me on her own fabulous blog! You’re the best, girl!
Biscuits N’ Gravy Bake
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb Turkey Breakfast Sausage, I use Jennie-0
- 1 7.5 oz can Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits, cut each biscuit into 6 small pieces
- 1 package Country Gravy Mix, I use McCormick or Pioneer Brand, prepared with water
- 1 1/2 cup Egg Substitute such as Egg Beaters
- 1 cup Reduced Fat Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- Salt & Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spray a 9x13 casserole dish with cooking spray.
- Cook 8 ounces of raw turkey sausage. Drain fat and set aside.
- Cook the package of gravy mix according to directions. (I use water instead of milk to keep it lower calorie) Set aside.
- Spread your biscuit pieces evenly throughout your casserole dish. Pour the egg beaters on top, followed by the prepared gravy, and then sausage. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and evenly sprinkle your shredded cheese. Bake for another 10 minutes.
- Cut into 6 servings. ENJOY!
- Calories..273.. 10g fat, 22g carbohydrates, 1g fiber, 23g protein (Calculated with My Fitness Pal) 7 freestyle Smart Points per serving (Calculated with Weight Watchers Recipe Builder) 7 PP per serving
Are smart points calculated using milk or water?
I am not sure, perhaps you can leave a comment on Star’s blog (Thedailydoseofpepper) link in post.. and ask, it’s her recipe that she shared on my blog 🙂 If it was calculated using water, I doubt milk would add many points, probably would keep the points the same per serving
I made your biscuit and gravy casserole to bring to work with me for my breakfasts. Oh my, it is DELICIOUS! Thank you for sharing. I have made several of your recipes and I haven’t found one yet that I haven’t liked.
Awesome, glad it was enjoyed, the biscuits & gravy was actually guest posted by the lovely Star, but I know she will be happy to know you loved it 🙂
We talk about your recipie site at our w8w meetings. This recipie .Alot of tasty recipiesI would be concerned with the amount of soduim in i your biscuits and gravy.Low fat cheese no thanks.
Hi Wendy, I’m not sure if your saying your enjoying the recipes or no way lol.. they are not “my” biscuits so to speak, it’s pillsbury biscuits and yes has sodium but I believe you need to pick and choose your battles, should you eat high sodium meals everyday, no.. but should you stress about it everyday too, no.. It’s all about balance, just like treating yourself to some cookies… your not going to live on cookies everyday but you like enjoying them from time to time.. and as far at the cheese goes, each to their own, I am not forcing anyone to eat low fat cheeses, its a suggestion to keep the points low, if someone want’s to use regular cheese and increase the points they have the option to do that, again it’s picking and choosing your battles, you will never find a recipe on my blog with artificial sweetener as a substitute cause I don’t bake with it, but low fat cheeses, yes I will use it in recipes..
Was wondering if I could use mccormick homestyle chicken gravy instead? I looked all over for the country style and couldn’t find it?
Hi I am not sure, this recipe was shared from a fellow blogger, her link is in the post .. I would think it should be ok 🙂
I did and it was still great!
love this recipe
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Sweet Baby Jesus, I need this casserole in my life! Biscuits and Gravy are my guilty pleasure, and now I can have them again and stay OP! Thank you!
I hope you love it 🙂
Just a quick question! How many ounces are the gravy packets that you are using? When I put it all in my recipe builder for 6 servings it comes out 10 smart points because of the whole 2.6 ounce gravy packet! I’m making it for the first time and I want to make sure I get it right. Thank you!
Hi Emily this is not my recipe it was shared form my blogger friend who helped me while I was moving her link is is the post maybe you can ask her on her page?
