Baked, not fried — these double chocolate chip donuts give you every bit of that chocolate-glazed satisfaction without the deep fryer. Rich chocolate batter packed with chocolate chips, topped with a simple vanilla icing that sets into that perfectly glossy finish. They come together in one bowl and bake in about 12 minutes, which means fresh donuts on a weekday morning is actually a realistic goal. Whether you’re treating the kids or just treating yourself, these are guaranteed to make anyone’s day a little better.
- Swap: Use cocoa powder in the icing instead of vanilla extract for an all-chocolate double-glazed version.
- Make-ahead: Mix the batter the night before and refrigerate; fill the donut pan and bake fresh in the morning.
- Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze un-iced donuts for up to 1 month.
- Variation: Swap vanilla icing for a peanut butter glaze by mixing powdered sugar with a spoonful of peanut butter and a splash of milk.
- Serving: Serve alongside a latte or hot chocolate for a cozy weekend breakfast treat.
When you hear the word “Donut” you automatically want to run and hide so you don’t blow your points for the day. But I am all about making low point donuts, because everyone should be able to have their donut and eat it too. 😉 These decadent chocolate donuts are quite the treat and only 2 points plus each!
