If you’ve never made homemade fried pickles, you’ll be surprised by how simple it actually is. Since we’re using an air fryer, you don’t need to worry about making a batter or tediously working with oil. Instead, all you have to do is dunk the pickles into eggs and then into a seasoned breadcrumb mixture. Then, let the air fryer cook them to perfection.

Ingredients in Weight Watchers Easy Air Fried Pickles
Fried Pickles Recipe Ingredients
- 16 oz jar Dill pickle chip ovals
- ¼ tsp Paprika
- ¼ tsp Garlic powder
- To taste Salt
- 2 pinches Black pepper
- ¾ cup Panko
- 2 Eggs
Cajun Yogurt Dipping Sauce
- ¾ cup Nonfat plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp Pickle juice
- ¼ tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Cajun seasoning

Instructions for Making Weight Watchers Homemade Air Fried Pickles (Step by Step)
- Preheat the air fryer to 400F. Drain the pickle chips, reserving some of the pickle juice.
- Spread out the pickles and dry them on both sides with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

3. Separately, in a medium bowl, whisk the eggs until thoroughly combined. In another bowl, add the seasoning to the panko and mix to disperse them.
4. Dip the dried pickle chips into the egg mixture and then into the panko breadcrumbs, making sure to thoroughly coat the pickles on both sides. Line the pickles onto a sheet tray with parchment paper as you work. (I put the pickles and eggs in a large bowl together, then dipped them in the panko one-by-one).

5. To cook the pickles, place them in the air fryer in a single layer with some space in between them. Lightly spray them with cooking spray and cook for 5 minutes. Flip them, spray again, and cook another 4-6 minutes until your desired crispiness. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you might need to cook the breaded pickles in batches.

6. To make the sauce, mix all of the ingredients together. Serve with the air fryer fried pickles.
Variations and Substitutions
- Air Fried Pickles with Flour: substitute a portion of the panko with flour if you wish. This will affect the WW points, so you will have to adjust the recipe in the WW recipe builder.
- Gluten-Free Air Fried Pickles: Use the GF panko crumbs instead!
- Air Fried Pickles with Cheese: If you have some extra WW points, you can mix some grated parmesan into the panko mixture for a cheesy flavor.
- Make it Vegan: Instead of dipping the pickles in eggs, you can use plant-based milk. With milk, the panko might not stick as well, but you can dip the pickle in flour and then milk to help the panko stick. You can use vegan mayo in the dip instead of yogurt.
- Air Fried Pickle Spears: Use pickle spears instead! This will make the process quicker. You might need to slightly adjust the cooking time, though, since they are much larger than the pickle coins.
- Other Sauces for Dipping: try dipping the pickles in sriracha, remoulade sauce, or fry sauce! They taste incredible with all sorts of dips, both spicy or creamy.

Tips and Tricks for Making Weight Watchers Fried Pickles in The Air Fryer
- Make sure to pat the pickles dry. Otherwise, the egg and the breading won’t properly stick, or they will become soggy.
- If you finish coating all of the pickles and you have leftover crumbs, you can double-dip any pickle chips that could use a little bit more. Dunk the pieces into the egg and the crumbs again to double-coat them.
- How to reheat air fryer breaded pickles: I suggest reheating these in the oven or the air fryer. With the microwave, they will be soggy. It takes just a few minutes for the air fryer to crisp them up again and refresh them. Use a slightly lower temperature, around 370F.
