This holiday season, you have to try this delicious Weight Watchers peppermint bark, which is only 5 WW points per serving. You’ll absolutely love how easy it is to make and how delicious it tastes. You may have never considered making peppermint bark at home, but it’s actually quite simple to do.

Since this recipe uses baking chips, you do not need to temper the chocolate carefully; just melt it, as it has already been tempered. Also, since it is zero-sugar chocolate, that means that it is more suitable for a WW lifestyle. With this recipe, you can indulge in classic peppermint bark but for a fraction of the WW points, which is always great news, especially during the holiday times when there are tons of treats around.

This delicious and easy recipe can help you stay on track with your goals. You can make it for an event or simply just make it for fun—you don’t necessarily need a reason. If you are someone who enjoys making treats around the holidays, you can check out my baking recipe collection or dessert recipe collection for other ideas, too.

Ingredients for peppermint bark

Instructions for making Weight Watchers Peppermint Bark

  1. Put each type of chocolate in a microwave-safe dish with enough room to comfortably stir the chips. Line a sheet pan or other baking dish with parchment paper as preparation. You will also want to have a rubber spatula handy.
  2. First, melt the dark chocolate in the microwave. Start with 30-second increments, stirring in between. Once it seems about halfway melted, shorten the increments to 10 to 15 seconds each time to prevent burning. Mix in 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract or more, depending on your taste.

3. Pour the dark chocolate onto the parchment and spread it in an even layer. Tap the pan a few times to release any air bubbles. Let the chocolate rest at room temperature for about 10 to 15 minutes.

4. Once the dark chocolate is set, melt the white chocolate in the same fashion that you melted the other, being careful not to burn it accidentally. Also, stir in 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract (or more if you wish).

5. Pour the melted white chocolate over the dark chocolate and carefully spread it into an even layer, being careful not to dig into the bottom layer accidentally. If using, sprinkle on crushed candy canes or sprinkles to give the peppermint bark a festival look.

6. Allow the bark to set at room temperature, or you can put it in the refrigerator or freezer to expedite how fast it sets.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Topping Ideas: You can get creative with the toppings, such as using holiday sprinkles that look different or crushed Starlight mints instead of candy canes. For an indulgent twist, you can also sprinkle on some crushed Oreo pieces, which taste amazing with the peppermint flavor.
  • Milk Chocolate: You can use milk chocolate chips as the base instead of dark chocolate if you would like, so long as you don’t mind an increase in WW points.
  • Swirled Peppermint Bark: You can pour alternating lines of white and dark chocolate and then use a toothpick or spoon to give it a swirly design instead of a layered look.

Tips and Tricks for Making Weight Watchers Peppermint Bark

  • How to store WW peppermint bark: Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator or another cool place that doesn’t have constant temperature changes.
  • Be careful not to overheat the chocolate because it will burn and then it will have little clumps in it. This will not only affect the taste, but you will be able to see the little clumps in the chocolate too.
  • If you don’t have a microwave or prefer the stovetop, you can surely melt the chocolate in a double boiler instead. Just be careful to stir it occasionally to promote even melting. Also, always keep the water level relatively low so that it doesn’t directly touch the bowl or pot above.
  • When sprinkling on the crushed candies or sprinkles, make sure to work relatively fast because the chocolate will be setting. The toppings won’t adhere if you wait too long.
  • Do not pour the white chocolate over the dark chocolate until the first layer has set; otherwise, it will mix together and look more like milk chocolate.
