Different ways to change up this recipe:

  • A dollop of cool whip or light vanilla ice cream on top is amazing.
  • Don’t be afraid to add extra cinnamon if you love the flavor. It pairs so well with the apples and the caramel.
  • You can use rolled oats or quick oats in this recipe, it doesn’t matter. Steel cut oats are the only ones that wouldn’t work.
  • You can use any nuts that you like in this caramel apple crisp. It doesn’t have to be walnuts. Almonds, pecans, and cashews all work. Even peanuts would work well.
  • To save yourself some points, you could swap the brown sugar with Swerve brown sugar (zero points). It would save on grams of sugar as well.

Tips and Tricks for Making Caramel Apple Crisp:

  • Caramel Apple Crisp is best served warm. So while you need to store any leftovers in the fridge, make sure to reheat them with an air fryer or oven before serving again.
  • This dish doesn’t freeze very well, so plan to consume it within 7 days.
  • You can make the crumble oat/nut topping a few days ahead of time if needed and store it in the fridge. That way, all you have to do is sprinkle it over the apples before baking. It saves you some time and allows you to bake the dish right before serving.

  1. This looks yummy, although I’m not a caramel fan. Would it still be tasty without the caramel sauce?

    1. Hi Mary, yes it would still be just as good, you might want to replace it with something though, maybe a little honey or maple syrup?
