This WW Puff Pastry Christmas Tree is the perfect addition to your upcoming holiday party! It will surely impress all your guests with its festive and unique appearance. The puff pastry dough is shaped into a tree, with twisted strands of pastry that you can pull off. In between the pastry layers is jam or preserves, which is not only delicious but gives the tree a nice pop of color. Each serving is 6 WW points.
The pull-apart Christmas tree is adaptable and can be served in more than one way. For instance, you can serve it as a sweet treat after a meal. But you can also serve it as part of a cheese and charcuterie board! The pastry and jam pair wonderfully with various types of cheese. To make it, the entire process takes roughly an hour, which is quite reasonable given its uniqueness. It honestly looks like it takes more effort than it actually does!

Ingredients in Weight Watchers Puff Pastry Christmas Tree
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 6 oz No-sugar-added strawberry preserves/jam (or preferred flavor)
- 1 Beaten egg white for brushing
- Optional: powdered sugar or substitute for dusting
Instructions for making Weight Watchers Puff Pastry Christmas Tree
- Preheat the oven to 400F. Roll out both puff pastry sheets on parchment paper to fit your baking sheet (I used an 11×17 pan). Score each sheet into a Christmas tree shape.
2. If there’s not enough dough in the corner, you can use and flip the scraps to complete the tree shape (refer to image). Make two identical trees with the sheets: cut one and place it over the other to trace the exact size.
3. Fill the bottom tree with jam, spreading it in a single layer, leaving space around the edges. Place the other tree on top. (Cut leftover dough with cookie cutters to make Christmas shapes to bake alongside the tree. You can also make a star or tree trunk like I did). Cut strips down each side and twist the flaps to create the branches.
4. Brush the dough with beaten egg white. Bake the Christmas tree and any other loose shapes for 25-30 minutes or until thoroughly baked and golden brown. The branches will pull off like pull-apart bread.
Variations and Substitutions
- Puff Pastry Christmas Tree with Nutella: Instead of using jam, you can spread Nutella between the two layers of the pastry. This will give the dessert a chocolatey twist! However, you will need to adjust the Weight Watchers points in the recipe builder.
- Savory Puff Pastry Christmas Tree: you can also put a layer of cream cheese or another cheese type in the puff pastry to make it savory instead. Make a ham and cheese version by putting ham slices inside too!
- Decorate the Tree: After baking, you can decorate the tree. I only put a few little candies on it, but you can add candy canes, fresh basil, little berries, or whatever you like.
- Mini Christmas Trees: Create two smaller trees by cutting each sheet in half widthwise and stacking the halves after shaping. You can generally follow the same instructions but make the trees smaller and use various fillings for them.
Tips and Tricks for Making Weight Watchers Puff Pastry Christmas Tree
- It is okay if some of the jam melts out of the pastry; most of it will caramelize a bit and still stick to the pastry. Just make sure to loosen it from the parchment when it comes out of the oven to prevent sticking.
- The exact shape of the Christmas tree will vary, but the most important thing is that you use all scraps or subtract the weight of any dough you don’t use so that the WW points are accurate.
- You can use any flavor of jam that you like. A red jam is preferred, but even grape or other kinds will work.
- If you make a star and put jam on it, as shown in the images, make sure to close the seam of the star so all of the jam doesn’t leak out.
