Everybody loves a good burger! And it doesn’t have to be summer to fire up your grill and cook these gems up. I wanted to try and add a little greens to them (if you know me, you know my relationship with greens is complicated 😉 ). These burgers were full of flavor and came in at only 6 smart points each.
Spinach and asiago beef burgers
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup fresh chopped spinach
- 1/3 cup diced onion
- 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup grated fresh asiago cheese
- 1/4 cup 1% cottage cheese
- Salt & pepper
Instructions
- Mix all of your ingredients together in a bowl and form into 4 patties.
- Grill on bbq till meat is cooked. To keep points low I serve mine on a flatout bread fold it (2pp) Each burger is 6sp or 6pp..
- Nutritional info (not including veggies or bread) per burger .. Calories 221.. Fat 7.9g... Saturated fat 3.3g.. Carbs 5.2g... Fiber 0g.. Sugars 0.6g.. Protein 28.6g
How would you do this without using a grill? Would it change the sp?
You can pan fry them and no it would not change the points as long as you don’t use oil, maybe a little cooking spray on the pan
Hey! I just put these in the recipe builder using ground turkey instead and got 7sp each :-/ Any idea where the difference is coming from?
Hi, I never use the recipe builder on WW App I have proved it wrong way too many times, also I have noticed depending on what kind of ground turkey you use it’s actually more [points than extra lean ground beef.. Plus the asiago cheese could vary based on brand, same with cottage cheese.. I use My fitness pal to determine the nutritional info and then input that into WW calculator, i always tell people it’s your call which you want to use. All I can do it tell you how I get my point value..
Does the 5pp include the 2pp flat out bread?
No it does not, that is just the burger
Any substitute for cottage cheese?
Maybe cream cheese or ricotta?
Thank you. Have tried several of your recipes and can’t thank you enough for satisfying my sweet and savory tooth! Now searching your site for a light and tasty dessert for July 4.
You are very welcome Mary, thank you for your kind words.. July 4th recipe coming very soon 🙂
These are SO good! I didn’t have Asiago so used Parmesan. Will definitely be making again!
Yum, I love parmesan 🙂 so glad you enjoyed them
Can these be frozen? Also how do you reheat after grilling them?
Yes you can definitely freeze them, I’d dethaw and then either pop in oven or reheat in a frying pan, air fryer would work as well
We thought these were great! Made exactly per recipe, except I pan fried them. I served them on Kings Hawaiian pretzel hamburger buns. Will definitely be making them again! Extremely flavorful!
