Baked donuts packed with juicy blueberries and finished with a rich dark chocolate glaze — this is the combination that makes you question why you ever bothered with plain glazed. The tartness of the blueberries cuts through the bittersweet chocolate beautifully, and the whole thing bakes up in about 15 minutes. These are the kind of donuts that make you feel like you’re being indulgent while actually eating something with real fruit in it. Weekend mornings just got a serious upgrade.
- Swap: Fresh or frozen blueberries both work — if using frozen, fold them in still frozen to prevent purple streaking.
- Make-ahead: Bake the donuts a day ahead; glaze with dark chocolate the morning of for the best appearance.
- Storage: Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
- Variation: Add a teaspoon of orange zest to the batter — blueberry and orange is a classic pairing that works especially well with dark chocolate.
- Serving: Serve warm with a strong cup of coffee or cold brew for a breakfast that feels like a real treat.
