Variations and Substitutions

  • Yogurt Choices: I use low-fat Greek yogurt sweetened with Splenda, with bananas adding extra sweetness. Feel free to use any yogurt flavor you like, from lemon pie to classic strawberry, for more flavor depth.
  • Fruit Options: This recipe is versatile with blueberries or raspberries. Swap or add fruits to customize the recipe to your taste.
  • Sweetness Adjustment: If your strawberries aren’t very sweet, consider adding a bit more sweetener. Use your preferred 0-point Weight Watchers sweetener, such as Splenda or Stevia, though I find the bananas usually provide enough sweetness.

Tips and Tricks for the Best Ice Cream

  • Cut Bananas Last: Slice the bananas right before blending to prevent oxidation. The acidity of the strawberries helps stop this process.
  • Blend to Your Preference: For chunky fruit bits, blend for about a minute.
  • Order of Ingredients: Add yogurt first, then strawberries, to provide enough liquid for blending the bananas.
  • Freezing: Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 8 hours. Decorate with mint leaves when serving.
