Watermelon Martini

Legend has it that the Watermelon Martini originated in the beach bars of Florida, USA, offering a refreshing respite under the sun.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (480 ml) watermelon juice
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) gin
  • 4-6 fresh mint leaves
  • Stevia (optional), to taste
  • Lemon juice (optional), to taste
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  • Chill the Glass: Place a Martini glass in the freezer to chill while you prepare the cocktail.
  • Prepare the Ingredients: If you haven't already, extract fresh watermelon juice by blending chunks of ripe watermelon until smooth. Strain the juice to remove any pulp or seeds.
  • Gather the gin, fresh mint leaves, stevia (if using), lemon juice (if using), and ice cubes.
  • Muddle the Mint Leaves: In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently crush the mint leaves to release their flavor. Add the Gin and Watermelon Juice:
  • Pour the gin and watermelon juice into the cocktail shaker with the muddled mint leaves. Sweeten (Optional) For a touch of acidity, squeeze some fresh lemon juice into the cocktail shaker. Adjust the amount based on your taste preferences.
  • Shake with Ice: Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes, ensuring it's about three-quarters full.
  • Secure the lid tightly on the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This helps chill the ingredients and thoroughly mix the flavors.
  • Strain into the Chilled Glass: Remove the chilled Martini glass from the freezer. Using a cocktail strainer, pour the shaken mixture from the cocktail shaker into the chilled glass, straining out any ice or mint leaves.
  • Garnish (Optional): If desired, garnish the Watermelon Martini with a small wedge of watermelon or a sprig of fresh mint. Serve and Enjoy: Your refreshing Watermelon Martini is now ready to be enjoyed! Serve immediately and savor the delightful blend of flavors.
