To celebrate this cozy season, I’ve whipped up a batch of irresistible pumpkin spice donuts!  And yes, these scrumptious delights are deceptively decadent – their full name is “Pumpkin Spice Donuts with Brown Sugar Buttercream Icing.”  

But here’s the best part: they’re surprisingly guilt-free at just 4 Weight Watchers points each. You can fully enjoy in the fall flavors if you’re a pumpkin spice person without any guilt of derailing your diet. You could even use this recipe for a Halloween party so that you haven’t something healthy to eat there. So, what are you waiting for? Pumpkin spice pairs perfectly with brown sugar. 

The brown sugar buttercream icing is divine on top of these soft, tender pumpkin spice donuts. It’s the perfect hint of sweetness without adding tons of calories. 

They’re relatively easy to make as long as you have a donut pan! 

All of the ingredients are normal items you’ll have on hand if you’ve been on Weight Watchers for a bit. And you could even make these into mini muffins if you don’t have a donut pan. 

Each donut is just 87 calories! 

Sounds unreal, right? It’s not! Pumpkin puree is fantastic to bake with because it holds up well, but it’s very low in calories and carbs. It actually adds a good bit of fiber to your recipes. 

Ingredients you need to make Pumpkin Spice Donuts With Brown Sugar Buttercream Icing: 

  • 2 tablespoons liquid egg whites
  • ¼ cup pure canned pumpkin puree
  • ⅓ cup skim milk 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup + 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoon pumpkin spice or ½ teaspoon each of cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg

FOR THE BUTTERCREAM ICING

  • ½ tablespoon butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ tablespoon milk
  • 2 tablespoons icing sugar or confectionery sugar

How to make Pumpkin Spice Donuts With Brown Sugar Buttercream Icing (step by step): 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F, and spray a 6 hole donut pan with some cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the egg whites and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. Add in the pumpkin puree, ⅓ cup milk, and vanilla and mix well.
  3. Stir in the all purpose flour, baking powder, and pumpkin spice.
  4. Divide batter into the 6 donut hole pan.
  5. Bake in the oven for 14-16 min.
  6. Meanwhile, you can make the frosting! Stir melted butter, and 1 tablespoon brown sugar together in a small bowl. Add ½ tablespoon milk and the icing sugar and stir it well. Store it in the fridge until the donuts are baked. Top donuts with the icing. Enjoy!
