Three reasons why you need to make this recipe!
As the title states, it really is worth it.
The flavors of ranch, bacon, chicken, and cheese come together to create a delicious, one pot dinner. This is a one stop shop for your taste buds. Worth every penny!
It’s easy to adjust the Weight Watchers points.
If one serving is too high in points for you, you can easily substitute fat free cream cheese in for the light cream cheese as well as fat free shredded cheese instead of reduced fat shredded cheese. Those two swaps will lower the points without significantly changing the flavor of the dish.

Different ways to change up this recipe:
- Use Zero Point Ranch dressing instead of the light ranch. It’ll make each serving 8 points instead of 9 points.
- You can use non-fat Greek yogurt instead of sour cream to lower the points. It will taste the same.
- If you don’t like Everything but the Bagel seasoning, you’re welcome to use whatever seasoning you like. Dill would be a great choice - it will really enhance the ranch flavor.
- You can use turkey bacon instead of regular bacon if you’d like. It’s personal preference.
- If you’re not a fan of chicken, you can substitute extra lean ground beef or lean ground turkey.
Tips and Tricks for Making Million Dollar Chicken Casserole:
- This is a great freeze ahead meal. Bake a few batches of this recipe in alumnum pans, wrap well and store in the freezer for up to 6 months. You can give them away as gifts to new moms, or for someone going through a hard time. To reheat yourself, pull one out the night before and let it thaw in the fridge. When you’re ready for dinner, bake the casserole for about 30 minutes or until heated through.
- You can bake this a day ahead of time. Just follow the directions up until step 6, but don’t bake it the last 10 minutes. Sprinkle with the cheese and seasoning, cover it with saran warp and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake. The next day, let the casserole come to room temperature while the oven is pre-heating. Bake for 20 minutes, until it’s heated through.
- Use shredded rotisserie chicken to save time, rather than cooking the chicken yourself. Costco has a delicious pack of pre-shredded, rotisserie chicken that works great in this dish. If you’re using a full rotisserie chicken, make sure to use only the chicken breast so that it doesn’t add points.

I don’t have a Trader Joe’s. What could I sub for seasoning? Thank you for all you do!
Drizzle
If your in Canada try Epicure , also just peek at your other spices you might find something similar, and you could also make your own
Valerie
ALDI has the "everything" seasoning.

Why do the smart points freestyle points come up as 7 when I enter the nutritional into the Weight Watchers app calculator?
Drizzle
Because you are not supposed to use the nutritional info, the freestyle value is determined using the WW Freestyle recipe builder, Chicken is now a zero point food, if you enter the nutritional values it is giving it to you based on ALL ingredients in the recipe, whereas some of these items are zero foods, make sense??
weeziebug
I used the recipe builder on my weight watchers site and obtained a 10 point SP freestyle value, why?
Drizzle
My guess would be you used the wrong biscuits, they must be the 7.5oz small packs, there is 17SP in the whole pack (10 small biscuits)
weeziebug
Thank you, that's what I was thinking it must be too. Recipe was delicious!
Lindsey
Hello! What brand of reduced fat 3 cheese blend do you buy? I’m also in Canada!
Drizzle
Hi, I usually just get the no name one or PC blue menu do one as well , sometimes I will pick one up in the Staes as I cross the border often
Natalie
How many points do you consider to be low point bacon?
Drizzle
The center cut bacon I buy is 2SP for 3 slices
Danielle
What brand of bacon do you use (also from Canada)
Drizzle
I travel across the border often and buy the center cut bacon there
Cathy
So, you only use 9 biscuits out of a 10 pack?
Drizzle
Woops that 9 snuck in there lol, sorry was a typo, now removed, no I use all 10
Niccii
could you use the two ingredient pizza dough recipe in place of the biscuits? money is tight due to medical bills and have the ingredients for that thank you
Drizzle
HI, I have seen a few attempt it, they mention the dough does not bake all the way through so to try and pre-bake it first, sorry I have not tried it yet so I can't give an honest review
Kim Burnside
I have done the recipe with two ingredient dough and it turned out great although I did make my pcs of dough very small and turned up the heat a little bit more ! This dish is delicious in every way !
Drizzle
Thanks for the tips Kim, so glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Allyson
Have you tried putting this together ahead of time, and refrigerating it for a day or so before baking?
Drizzle
HI, no I have never done that but I know others who have made some of the bubble ups the night before , refrigerated then popped in the oven the next day, I wouldn't leave it more than overnight, personally
Brenda Pasieka
hello, i was so looking forward to the recipe but mine was so dry, what happened
Drizzle
Hi Brenda, well it is hard for me to say without being there and knowing what you did 😉 are you sure you used the right biscuits? Mine was a small 7.5oz roll with 10 very small biscuits if you used a bigger biscuit pack then that would make it dry
Carol
Have you ever tried this recipe with crscent rolls instead of biscuits?
Drizzle
Hi, no I have not but I have seen others do bubble ups with them and say they turn out well
Barbara Lane
would like to have the recipe for your ranch dressing
Drizzle
you can find it here on my blog, search it in the search bar 🙂
Michelle Cummings
Hello Kate...loving your recipes! 🙂 Can you use the regular biscuits we can buy in Canada? I don't see the buttermilk ones here? Thanks for all you do.
Drizzle
Hi Michelle, yes you can use them but they will be a larger pack than the 7.5 oz ones I use from the states, my advice would be to weigh out 7.5oz, then cut your biscuits open in two before cutting each piece into 6 or 8 whatever the recipe calls for, because the biscuits are bigger in those bigger packs but you want enough pieces to spread in your dish if that makes sense
Tina
This was absolutely fabulous!
Drizzle
So glad you enjoyed it Tina 🙂
Michelle
How do you cook your chicken so it can be shredded? Crock pot first? Also wondering. What name brand of biscuits are people using in Canada?
Drizzle
Hi Michelle, yes I use crock with some chicken broth cook on high about 3 hours then shred it, you can buy the Pillsbury biscuit, can the smallest pack you can find then weigh out 7.5 ounces, because this will give you less biscuits I suggest cutting them open first then cut each half into 6 pieces so you have enough to cover the bottom of your dish
Kristin
You stated that you could use different biscuits and just measure out the right amount. Which is what I did. And mine was really dry as well. It was like I didn’t have enough chicken mixture to cover everything. Bummed.
Drizzle
Hmm, weird..maybe the biscuits were not cut into small enough pieces? It's really hard for me to say what exactly went wrong without me being there, mine was definitely not dry, I'm sorry it did not work out
Evie Davis
Made this last night for dinner and the kids LOVED it! This was the 2nd bubble up we tried this week. Both delicious.
Drizzle
Yay for bubble ups 🙂 so glad everyone enjoyed it
Brandy
I used the exact biscuits you used but I come up with 31 points in my app for 10. And I used the 7.5 size in the 4 pack roll with 10 biscuits walmart great value brand. Can you please tell me how you got 17 points for them? I came up with 10 points freestyle when I made this. Also are you using fat free sour cream, ranch, and cream cheese? I used light not fat free. It is very delicious and we loved it however I want to make sure I get the points down what you have listed.
Drizzle
Hi Brandy, did you scan it?? My scanner shows 5SP per serving (3 biscuits) then you can change it from 3 biscuits to 10 in the App, giving you 17SP, or use your calculaotr in the app and input the info, it will give you a 5SP reading per serving ( one serving as per can is 3 biscuits) then put your serving at 3 1/3 (since 3 servings would be 9 biscuits) it will once again give you a reading of 17SP sorry but I'm not sure how else to tell you but that's how I get 17SP and I have no idea how you are getting 31?? I use light cream cheese, a reduced fat cheese and my zero point ranch dressing recipe (see under appetizers for recipe) hope that helps .. I double and triple check everything when getting my point values
Karen
Which centre cut bacon do you buy when you cross the border? I cross border shop all the time and would love to know some specifics of what you're buying. Thanks!
Drizzle
I like Wegman's brand but if no Wegman's where you cross then Oscar Mayer do one too and sold at Walmart/Target
Lindsay
I ordered it on amazon!
Crystal
I made this last night for me and my 7yo son. It was sooo good... I didn't put the extra tsp of everything but the bagel seasoning, since my kid is picky.
Much to my surprise, he cleared his plate clean!!!!! I'm definitely making this again, and I'm looking forward to leftovers tonight.
Drizzle
Hi Crystal, that is awesome, so glad you both enjoyed it.. I love when I make something my daughter will also eat 🙂
Victoria
Finally made this last night and it’s amazing! The only drawback is trying to eat only one serving! So I got up and had a piece for breakfast! ??? I really enjoy your recipes....thank you!
Drizzle
Ha I love it!! So glad you enjoyed the bubble up, it's one of my favorites 🙂
Steph
Amazing recipe I loved it !
I wonder if we could use 2 ingredient dough for it instead ?! ?
Drizzle
Hi Steph, so glad you enjoyed it.. I have seen some try bubble ups with 2ID and although they say it's ok, it is not as good as the biscuits and does not bake then same
Sharlene
Let me start by saying the flavor of this is so yummy, however I did find it sort of dry and mine was darker then pictured at 30 mins cooked uncovered. When I make it again I will try covering it for the first 30 mins and then only leaving it uncovered for the last 10 mins. Still delicious!
Drizzle
Glad you enjoyed it Sharlene, could just come down to ovens varying
LINDA
Wondering if anyone has tried freezing this (after baking)? I love recipes that I can make and freeze in individual servings for future lunches - but concerned that the biscuits might get soggy. Any attempts?
Drizzle
Hi Linda I typically never have leftovers long as my hubby takes to work but I have seen many say the bubble ups freeze very well 🙂
KIm H Ketusky
Just wondering how this would turn out if we used fat free sour cream and fat free cream cheese?
Drizzle
Hi Kim if you are used to eating FF products then it will turn out fine.. I know some people stay away from FF so it just comes down to personal preference 🙂
corri
Hi there, Have you tried with Fat Free options for lower SP value ? Thanks
Drizzle
HI Corri, no I typically don't buy the FF cheese etc as I am not a fan of the taste but feel free to swap it out, you can just build the recipe on the WW App to see if the point value changes
Heather
Thanks for the recipe! To be honest, it was so tasty my fiance and I had to double and triple check the points because we couldn't believe that it could be right . Hahaha.
Drizzle
Haha love it!! So glad you both enjoyed it 🙂
Delishia Cochran
Thank you Thank you! This was sooo good! I was skeptical that it would be filling, but couldn't finish my portion. Family loved it, def part of my loved it Pinterest file. With the ingredients I had on hand mine was 8pts but so worth it
Drizzle
Hi, Yay, I am so glad you all enjoyed it 🙂
Bonnie
Has anyone tried using Chobani Greek Yogurt instead of sour cream? I usually sub it out but have never made anything with biscuits from the store because they are usually way to high in points. I'm in the USA. What biscuits do you recommend? Brand? I have TJ's in my town as well. You are a recipe QUEEN!! 😀 (from a former Calgary girl, now a Cali girl. Hehe...
Drizzle
Hi Bonnie, thanks for your kind words 🙂 Yes I know others who swap out sour cream for yogurt. I typically pick up the Great value biscuits from Walmart when I cross the border, they should carry the small 7.5 oz rolls, (10 small biscuits in each roll) Jealous you now live in Cali, the weather must be a complete turn around from Calgary.. I'll make it to a warm climate for good one day 🙂
Patricia Costa
Had a good flavor, however a 9x15 pan is way too large. Came out flat - also do not need to bake as long as specified. Will decrease time by 5 or 10 minutes. Biscuits were hard as a rock.
Drizzle
Hi Patricia, I use a 9x13 pan as stated in the recipe. I had no issues, sorry to hear you did and hopefully it works out next time 🙂
Nichole
Hello! Have you ever used canned chicken in the recipe? Or always crockpot chicken ? Thanks!
Drizzle
Hi I always make my own shredded chicken in the crockpot but you can use canned chicken, just a preference thing with me 🙂
Rachael
A new favorite for sure, we’ve been making this on repeat it’s so delicious. The only change I made was to double the recipe and cut it into 12 pieces instead of six. I thought it was too thin for a 9 x 13 pan without doubling it. Because we cut it into smaller portions the point value didn’t change which was nice. One serving was definitely filling especially with a vegetable on the side
Drizzle
Hi Rachael, I am so glad you all enjoyed it, I love the idea of doubling it to make it thicker and cutting into smaller pieces thanks for sharing 🙂
Mccoya
I'm from the US and mine came out to 10 points. It was really good but not really fulfilling for 10 points. One hour later and im hungry all over again.
Drizzle
HI, I wonder if you used the wrong sized can of biscuits? The one I use is 17SP for the whole can, other than that I can't see what would cause such an increase in points
Summer B
I'm not a huge fan of canned biscuits BUT this looks so good, I think I'll try making it with 2 ingredient dough and put into the recipe builder to get my PP value.
Drizzle
I hope you enjoy it 🙂
Karin
Hi. Would it work to add veggies to this? Maybe broccoli?
Drizzle
HI, yes you can definitely add in some veggies of your choice 🙂
Valerie
Hi, is it 2 cups plus 8 oz of chicken? Or pick one?
Thank you
Drizzle
Hi Valarie, it is 2 cups which equals 8oz, sorry I corrected it so it doesn't seem as confusing
Kayleigh Duggan
This was delicious! Serving sizes are a bit small but we gobbled it up! Subbed ranch seasoning for everything seasoning and it came out creamy and delicious. Thanks for another amazing recipe!!
