I am in love with this Chicken Alfredo Bubble Up casserole mostly because it’s packed with fantastic flavor while only being five Weight Watchers points per serving. My bubble up casseroles are filling and the perfect mix of all the favorite classic foods. Add a side salad and you have a great, easy family meal perfect for busy weeknights.
By using pre-cooked shredded chicken, like leftover rotisserie chicken, and frozen broccoli, the prep of this meal is a breeze. I love recipes that are easy to throw together, but still taste amazing, and this Chicken Alfredo bubble up is it! My whole family enjoyed it, even with the broccoli mixed in. Use this recipe to introduce veggies to your kids, and I doubt you’ll have any issues. They’ll gobble it right up. Light alfredo sauce makes it easy to keep the calories low too. If you haven’t tried the lightened up version of Alfredo sauce that is available in most stores, I highly suggest using it. It’s still creamy and cheesy - just has fewer calories than its regular counterpart.
Three reasons why you need to make this recipe!
Skip the high calorie bowl of chicken alfredo, and make this instead.
You’ll save yourself hundreds of calories by making this chicken alfredo bubble up instead of a big bowl of pasta. Most restaurant pasta dishes end up around 1000 calories, but this casserole offers a serving for just 236 calories.
You can meal prep your busy weeknight dinners.
Chicken alfredo bubble up makes fantastic leftovers so I suggest making enough for you to eat throughout the week. It’s easy to reheat and makes a tasty dinner on busy weeknights.
It’s not high in saturaded fat.
Most Alfredo sauce or chicken alfredo meals are extremely high in saturated fat because it’s made with a lot of butter and cheese. One serving of this casserole is only 3 grams of saturated fat, so you can feel good about what you’re eating.
Ingredients you need to make Chicken Alfredo Bubble Up:
- 1 (7.5 oz) package Pillsbury biscuits in the 4 value pack
- 3 cups frozen broccoli
- 10 oz cooked and cubed boneless, skinless chicken breast
- Dash of salt and pepper
- ½ cup reduced fat Alfredo pasta sauce
- ½ cup shredded light mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup shredded asiago cheese or other cheese that you prefer
How to make Chicken Alfredo Bubble Up (step by step):
- Preheat the oven to 375F and spray a 9x13 casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Cut the 10 biscuits into 6 small pieces each and layer them in the bottom of the dish. If you want, you can pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes (some ovens vary and some may find the middle does not cook through, I never have an issue but pre-baking should eliminate this from happening)
- Cook the broccoli in the microwave as directed on the package.
- In a bowl, mix the broccoli, cooked and cubed chicken, salt, pepper, alfredo sauce, and mozzarella cheese until it’s well combined.
- Spoon the mixture evenly onto the biscuit pieces and bake in the casserole in the oven for 25 minutes. Remove it from the oven and add the asiago cheese on top. Return it to the oven for 15-20 minutes.
- Let it cool for about 5 minutes then cut into 6 equal servings. Enjoy!

Different ways to change up this recipe:
- Great Value is a good brand of biscuit dough that still offers the 4 value pack of 7.5 oz packages. If you can't find those just weigh out 7.5 oz of dough from a bigger pack.
- Feel free to substitute for a cheese of your liking, if you’re not a fan of asiago. I love the bite it gives, but parmesan is also a good choice.
Tips and Tricks for Making Chicken Alfredo Bubble Up:
- This chicken alfredo bubble up casserole keeps in the fridge (covered tightly) for up to seven days. You can also freeze it for up to three months.
- To reheat, just pop a serving back in the oven, or air fryer, for 6-8 minutes.

What is the points value per serving of the alfredo sauce, since it will be easier to remember that when shopping. Thank you.
Drizzle
Hi Jessica, I added a picture of the nutritional info in the post so you can work out the points for the one I used if you would like..
Kelly
What is the easiest way to find out the serving size of your recipes?
Drizzle
Hi Kelly, most times I will weigh out portions but if it is an older recipe I might not have, I make all my bubble ups in a 9x13 dish and then I just cut into 6 equal servings.. if you really want to get accurate serving size you can weigh each one to make sure they are even but your eye can probably figure it out 🙂
Lauren Delagarza
Made this today! How do I enter all this into the app?
Drizzle
Hi, you can either do as a quick add and enter numbers or build the recipe in your recipe builder
Julieann
Amazing!!!!! My husband requested it every week!
Drizzle
Yay!! I am so glad he enjoys it so much 🙂
Scott
Hi! Looks tasty! Have you tried using cauliflower in this recipe instead of broccoli? I haven't yet, but I wanted to know if you have. By the way, love the app too. Hope you come out with more.
Drizzle
Thank you Scott 🙂 No I have not tried cauliflower, I did suggest it to someone that does not like broccoli, cauliflower can be tricky as it holds a lot of water, but I still think it would work well.. Hope you keep enjoying the recipes, and I too hope I have more Apps down the road..Have a great weekend!
ROSANNE MORRIS
Another great dish!! Thanks!!
Drizzle
Thanks Rosanne, glad you enjoyed!
Tammy Gentry
Made this for the first time tonight and the family devoured it! So good and so easy! Thank you!!!
Tammy
Drizzle
Hi Tammy, so glad your family all enjoyed it 🙂
Bianca
Can the chicken be cooked prior putting it in the oven?
Drizzle
Hi Bianca, the chicken is cooked once you mix it in, I cook my chicken in the crock pot and it shreds nicely, I usually do a batch a week up for different recipes .. does that answer your question?
Cheryl
This is SO good! Keep 'em coming!
Drizzle
I sure will! Glad you enjoy it 🙂
Jennifer
Hi there! I live in the Netherlands, and we don't have canned biscuit dough (a crying shame). Do you think this recipe would work with prepared pizza dough?
Drizzle
HI there, I know I'm so sorry they don't carry pillsbury over there, same with the UK.. I have suggested before that people try pizza dough, I would just try to go light on it as it is a heavier dough than the biscuits..
Kim
Hi,I have a question, does this recipe work well with fresh broccoli if I cook it ahead instead of using frozen.
Drizzle
Hi, it should be ok, I have only used frozen but I don't see why it wouldn't work 🙂
Shanla Campbell
Hi there, im from new zealand and we dont have the biscuits used in your bubble up dishes.. is there anything I can substitute them with?
Thanks ?
Shanla Campbell
Oops just read the comments.. will try a lil pizza dough
Drizzle
woops just saw your second comment lol, good luck 🙂
Drizzle
Hi, maybe a pizza dough?
beth
I love this recipe and it's versatility, as I see you do too! LOL. Philly cheesesteak bubble up sounds right up my alley! I'm going to feature this recipe on my blog and share a bit of your bio :). Cheers!

Thanks Beth, glad you enjoy the recipe, I love all the bubble ups 🙂

Hi, I set out to make this dish but did not have chicken breast on hand so I used a chicken with garlic smoked sausage I had.. awesome tasting, sorry for the modification thank you for this great recipe
Drizzle
Oh please don't be sorry I am so glad you made it work for you and it sounds delicious the way you made it 🙂 Glad you enjoyed!
Amy Brinson
I definitely prefer just the broccoli, Alfredo and cheese. When making this the biscuits were too hard for me.
Drizzle
Sorry the biscuits were too hard 🙁 but glad you still enjoyed the dish without and it must be nice and low in points 🙂 you could try leaving it in the oven for less time
Tiff
This looks so delicious. I'm going to make it for my family tonight and I'll let you know how it goes. I have a son who is a picky eater and I'm trying to find ways other than threats to get him to eat more vegetables. Hopefully he'll love this. Thank you so much for sharing and thank you for calculating the SP!
Drizzle
Your very welcome, I hope he enjoys it, I too have a picky child, she's 13 now and still just as picky lol 😉 Good luck!
Allison
Any reason for frozen broc vs fresh? I always have fresh on hand but generally not frozen. Would it work out ok with fresh?
I've noticed that with at least one other recipe from your site - so I guess more of a general question.
Drizzle
Hi Allison, nope no reason and fresh will work just as well, I guess it's just a preference and I am not always sure when I will create a new recipe so I keep frozen in the freezer for convenience 🙂
Jessica
Do you think this would freeze well? This recipe looks absolutely amazing, but I basically only cook for 1 (since my 3 year old wont eat most foods) and I don't want any of this recipe go to waste!
Drizzle
Yes I think it should freeze ok, I personally have not frozen bubble ups but know others who have and say it's ok
Michelle
Made this tonight...definitely a keeper. I had some mushrooms that needed to be used so I sautéed them up and threw them in too.
Going to try mushroom and asparagus next time. Thanks!
Sharon
Awesome recipe! There was one piece leftover and all of us wanted to take it for lunch! Guess next time I will make two and have enough for lunch for everyone! Thanks so much, love your recipes!
Drizzle
That is so great to hear, so happy you all enjoyed it.. who got lunch??
Sharon
My son won! My second son ate this for the first time last night. He says he wants it again tonight. What a hit! This is now a favourite for all five of us. thank you.
Drizzle
Yay!! That is so awesome, thanks for sharing.. Love when kids enjoy the dishes as well 🙂
ro
How many biscuits do you use? And what size dish - I can't imagine this even filling a 9x13...
Drizzle
The post will tell you I use a 9x13 dish, I do for all my bubble ups, the biscuits I use are a 7.5oz pack of 10 small biscuits, then each biscuit is cut into 6 small pieces, so you have 60 small pieces of dough to cover the bottom and I can assure you it is enough (check picture on post) I have made several bubble ups all of them using the same amount of biscuits
Michelle
Can I make this up ahead of time and put in the refrigerator?
Drizzle
I have never done that but I think others have and it worked out fine 🙂
Elizabeth
I'm quite upset, i just made this dish and am putting the recipe in my recipe app and the points work out to 9 before adding extra cheese on top! The biscuits alone are 35 points! 3 points a biscuit x 10 biscuits! The cheese is 5, brocolli 0, the chicken is 10, the alfredo sauce is 4 divided by 6 SMALL servings = 9 points!
Drizzle
Hi Elizabeth, it is really important to read the full recipe to see exactly what products I use, you have the wrong size biscuits, the small 7.5 oz packages are 17SP for the whole pack (10 small biscuits) I buy these at Walmart in the U.S they come in a 4 value pack and I do state that in the recipe.. also 10oz cooked chicken is 6SP not 10 (not sure where you are getting your numbers from) I do 3 methods of calculating for my recipes, WW App recipe builder, My fitness pal to get nutritional info and simple math in my head, I take my calculations seriously but that said I can't help it if you are not using the exact products I am ..
Kathleen
I have made this several times and love it! 4 servings go in the freezer in Glad containers, 1 saved out for next day and of course 1 for my dinner! Freeze well, I just reheat in oven. Thanks so much for your great recipes!
Drizzle
You are very welcome, so glad your enjoying them 🙂
Cindi Anderson
Trying this tonight! Thank you for your great recipes!!
Drizzle
Hope you enjoy it Cindi 🙂
Chandra
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I made it today and it was very good. I followed the directions and pre-cooked the biscuits and they were a little crispy. Next time, I'll cook it without doing the pre-cook. I appreciate that your recipes give me variety in cooking Weight Watcher friendly meals.
Drizzle
So happy to hear you are enjoying the recipes, I think some ovens can vary so I am glad you know what works best with yours
Carmel
Hi Kate,
Love your recipes! For those of us in Canada who can't get to the States, if we buy our pillsbury and just weigh out 7.5 oz would that work out to what you buy at Walmart (USA).
Drizzle
Yes, that is what I suggest and also to cut biscuit open then cut each half in 6 since the biscuits will be bigger
Alyssa
I will be making this , this week, and this may be a silly question but is one serving size just 1/6th of the dish?
Drizzle
Yes that's right, I make in a 9x13 dish and cut into 6 equal servings the best I can 🙂 Hope you enjoy it
Marsha
Wow! This was delicious but I doubled the chicken because 10 oz of chicken for 6 servings would never work in my house!
Drizzle
So glad you enjoyed it and good call on the chicken, nice that it doesn't change the points
Melanie
Hi! I’d like to start by saying that I love each and everyone of your recipes! Great work! I’d like to substitute the chicken with shrimp and scallops. Would I follow as directed? Or should I change something? Thanks for answering 🙂
Drizzle
Hi Melanie, thank you so much for your sweet words, so glad you are enjoying the recipes .. No I wouldn't change anything, just make sure you get out any excess water that might be in the shrimp/scallops Hope you enjoy it, feel free to share how it was 🙂
