Every Christmas morning in our house, the air fills with the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked Pillsbury cinnamon rolls.  It’s a tradition so ingrained that the scent itself practically announces “present time!” These sweet rolls are a special treat, something I only whip up on this one magical day of the year. This year, I wanted to add a little twist to our beloved tradition.  Enter these delightful easy apple cinnamon rolls!  They offer the same comforting flavors we all love but with the addition of juicy apples for a touch of fruit and a fun, bite-sized presentation. Plus, they’re a lighter option compared to the full-sized rolls, so you can indulge without the guilt.  These easy apple cinnamon rolls are the perfect way to elevate our Christmas morning tradition and create a new memory in the making! I love taking something already prepared (like Pillsbury cinnamon rolls) and adding my own touch to it. You’ll taste the love in every bite. 

Is there anything that could make cinnamon rolls better? 

The answer is yes! Apples and an additional crumb topping should be added every time. These easy apple cinnamon rolls definitely elevate the breakfast pastry. 

The flavors are perfect for fall and winter. 

While cinnamon rolls can be made all year round, the addition of apples and extra cinnamon really boosts this sweet treat into fall mode.

Ingredients you need to make Easy Apple Cinnamon Rolls: 

  • 1(351 g) container Pillsbury cinnamon rolls with icing 8 pack
  • 2.5 cups peeled and diced apples
  • ½ tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

CRUMBLE TOPPING

  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ tablespoon melted light butter (I use Gay Lea light)

How to make Easy Apple Cinnamon Rolls (step by step): 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F, and spray a regular sized muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray. 
  2. Roll out each cinnamon roll and push it down into the muffin cups.
  3. Peel and dice the apples, mix them in a bowl with ½ tablespoon brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and divide into the 8 muffin cups.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, and melted butter to form a crumble. Sprinkle it over the apples.
  5. Bake them in the oven for approx 20 minutes.
  6. Drizzle the apple cinnamon rolls with the icing that comes in the Pillsbury pack. I piped mine out of a small zip lock bag.
  7. Serve warm. And enjoy!

Tips and Tricks for Making Easy Apple Cinnamon Rolls: 

  • The Weight Watcher App scans these cinnamon rolls with icing at 6 smart points and I added a point each for the little crumble on top. 
  • These keep well in the fridge for up to 5 days. Just pop one in the air fryer or microwave to reheat. They do not freeze well.

    I made these for our New Years Breakfast and my family thought they were amazing!! I snuck some flax/chia blend between the rolls and the apples just for good measure:)

    1. Hi, hmm I am not too sure, I don’t have a package of the rolls on me but there are really no added points so if you have a PP calculator just input numbers from your pillsbury package 🙂 My guess would be maybe 4-5

  2. Hi Kate! I made these today and they’re delicious! I just finished putting the recipe in the WW app and it comes out as 7 SP per cup for me. I even triple checked that I put the correct measurements for the ingredients.

    1. Hi Jen, Glad you enjoyed, I did not use the recipe builder, my rolls scanned were 6 points each, the other stuff I used would not of added a point per cup so logic told me they were 6 points but go with what you feel best 🙂
