On cold winter nights, you just want a warm, comforting dessert. But baking up a whole pie or other type of warm dessert isn’t always effective for weight loss goals. Having large servings in the house can increase temptation and be a downfall to some. That’s where this single serve apple crisp comes in. It’s sweet, but low in Weight Watchers points. It’s warm and comforting, but easy to make. And it’s the perfect amount of sweetness to calm the sweet tooth without increasing cravings.

Three reasons why you need to make this recipe!

Who doesn’t love a freshly baked apple crisp?

Apple crisp is delicious when it’s right out of the oven. That’s one of the best parts about this recipe – you can have it made fresh each night rather than having to reheat a large dish of it.

You can keep yourself on track with your diet.

There are no lingering leftovers that will tempt you with this recipe! You won’t even worry about going back for unnecessary second helpings.

It’s easy to make a few servings if needed.

If you have a partner or friend who’s joining you for dessert, double the recipe and whip up two servings. It’s that easy!

Different ways to change up this recipe:

  •  For some added sweetness drizzle vanilla icing on top. To make a simple, zero point icing drizzle, mix a little bit of water with Swerve confectioners sugar. It adds sweetness without adding calories.
  • If you have the points for it, a dollop of no sugar added vanilla ice cream would be divine on top!
  • Try this with other fruits like peaches or pears. If you do use a softer fruit, reduce the cooking time to about 15-20 minutes.
  • Additionally, if you have room for an extra Weight Watchers point or two, you can swap the unsweetened applesauce for a light butter to add more flavor to this dessert.

Tips and Tricks for Making Single Serve Apple Crisp:

  • This dish doesn’t freeze well, but that’s okay because you’ll be making it fresh every time!
  • I do suggest using quick oats, not rolled oats, as it makes a finer crumb for the crisp. But you can place the rolled oats in a blender, if that’s all you have, and give it a quick whir to create quick oats.

  1. Any idea if there is a way to do it quick in microwave? Sounds like a fabulous breakfast, but I’m usually short for time before work.

    1. Hi, I’m not sure you will still get the crispy topping if done in the microwave.. Maybe cook the apples the night before and then just put in the oven for 5-10 minutes to cook the topping?

  2. So I made this tonight with ambrosia apples and they were still quite hard and not that hot after 35 minutes. Any suggestions?

    1. Hmmm, they should be soft after that long, maybe pop in the microwave first? I have not used those apples but I can’t see them being any harder than the rest

  3. Hi Kate.

First I must say Thank You for sharing this recipe and all of your other ones too!! You have made my Journey SO much easier and tasty!! I love every recipe I’ve tried as does my family. Especially being that I was not much of a cook let a line a baker before starting this journey.

I do have to ask the silly questions…

1 – What kind of apples did you use?

2 – Do you have a recipe for the vanilla frosting to drizzle over this or are you using a store bought one and, if store bought, which one?

Thank you again for all you share!

    Carol -Ann

    1. Hi Carol-Ann thank you for your kind words and I am so glad you are enjoying the recipes.. Honestly I swap the apples up and use whatever is on sale, any will work and the drizzle is just a little store bought icing (in the tub) I microwave it for a few seconds and drizzle

  4. Tried this last night as I was craving something “sweet” to have with a cup of hot tea and it was delicious!

  5. Down to 1sp on the purple plan! I put it into recipe builder. This will be my dessert on Thanksgiving since I don’t like Pumpkin Pie. I will splurge and top mine with some still frozen FF Cool Whip… 😀

        1. Hi Lisa, sorry this was a really old recipe before I started posting calories etc and not just WW points, if you use My Fitness Pal you can easily figure that out 🙂 I will try to add that info in when I get a chance
